The second of 4 caches in the series “Corlette Hill top Caches”, which are all located in the bushland of this suburban part of beautiful Port Stephens. They are roughly in order of difficulty. You will need to find the fire trail that passes through this area; the cache is a few metres off the fire trail.
This cache is adjacent to one of the newer residential developments of Corlette. Most development and building work in progress is complete, but don’t let that stop you admiring the views and taking time to check out the parks and bushland. Park at the location of the cache “Corlette Titanic”, then walk east along the road and find a fire trail heading off into the bush. Large wheeled strollers will make it along the fire trail with effort. There is a good stand of Gymea lilies in this area, and if you continue on the fire trail, you will come out close to Bagnalls Beach. The fire trail runs close to Gawul Circuit, so if you pick the right spot, this is another entry to the cache. A couple of spots on Gawul Circuit have great views over Nelson bay towards Tomaree headland. Listen to the wonderful sounds of the Australian bush as you walk. As with all caches placed in the bush, take care with snakes and spiders. It is a good idea to take a gardening glove to poke your hand into rocks and crevices and other hiding places in the bush.
