Salamander Tops Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

inspicio: As there has been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it has been a number of months since the last owner note I am archiving this cache to keep from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact a reviewer (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, the reviewer will be happy to unarchive it.

Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

The third of 4 caches in the series “Corlette Hilltop Caches”, which are all located in the bushland of this suburban part of beautiful Port Stephens. They are roughly in order of difficulty. This cache is a few metres off the trail on a loop walk through the bush surrounding Salamander Tops.

This loop walk (about 2 kms) has been constructed through a bushfire asset protection zone by the Corlette Hall Parks and Reserves volunteer residents group. You will see some great Australian bush and many beautiful birds, a large stand of Gymea lilies and get some glimpses of the waterways of Port Stephens and other views of the area. On a good day, you can see the Stockton Dunes from part of the walk.

A good place to access the start of the loop walk is on The Peninsular (the name of a road) at S 32º 43.372,’ E 152 º 06.619, then walk a few metres down the walkway, where you will see a sign directing you to the loop walk. The cache is about 30 metres off the trail, but no serious bush bashing is needed.

As with all caches placed in the bush, take care with snakes and spiders. It is a good idea to take a gardening glove to poke your hand into rocks and crevices and other hiding places in the bush.
