THE CACHE IS NOT A ROCK OR ROCK PILE. DO NOT DISASSEMBLE ANYTHING.
The original raptor’s brooding grounds were established in Rochester, New York in 1875. By the 1900’s growth and expansion resulted in the establishment of a second brooding ground in Wauwatosa. Advertising of its original location can still be seen on a building in downtown Tosa today.
The original southeast Wisconsin grounds covered quite a large area -- all the way from Swan Blvd (where some hatchlings still reside) to as far north as 108th Burleigh. Then in 1928, the brooding grounds moved; taking up residence on a 38 acre parcel of land which continues to be its home today. Over the years the economy and development has taken its toll; the land has shrunk to a mere 8 acres, but it still stands as a cornerstone in the community. If you choose to go inside, there are a number of photographs on display of the original establishment. We hope you enjoy this historic site.
This cache is placed on private land, please be courteous. Street parking is available during off hours. Permission to place this cache was given by the General Manager, Wayne Petrick. Please do not make him regret his decision.
