Acadian Tour Series
The first French colonists arrived in Nova Scotia in 1604 and “Acadia” was the name given to the first permanent French colony. Many more colonists arrived during that century. Acadians trace their ancestry back to those early French colonists. In spite of the Deportation that happened in 1755 – when their homes were burned, their land was taken away and families were separated – many Acadians returned. They held fast to their culture, language, families and their faith.
The Acadian Shores Interpretive Tour is a self-guided itinerary of 29 Acadian heritage sites in southwestern Nova Scotia.

Des pionniers français sont arrivés en Nouvelle-Ecosse en 1604 et ils ont adopté le nom « Acadie » pour désigner la première colonie française en Amérique du Nord. De nombreux autres colons ont suivi leurs traves au cours du siècle. La généalogie de tous les Acadiens remonte à ces premiers colons.
