I have been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting. I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of Nauga-Hide caches. We are trying to become a bit more challenging, to increase the difficulty, but still want to make it easy enough so the whole family can enjoy. You may also find some of our caches to be simple, entertaining, and not as difficult as you may think it to be. In the descriptions of our caches, we may have placed little implications to help you find the cache.

The cache is located not far from the center of Naugatuck. There is a DOT maintained sidewalk that connects downtown Naugatuck to a park and the Union City section of town. The sidewalk parallels and overlooks the Naugatuck River. The river winds its way through several valley towns before emptying into the Housatonic River in Derby. We have hidden our cache somewhere along this sidewalk.

Before you are done, you may have hundreds of muggles passing by you. Unless they are walking on the sidewalk near you, you do not have to be stealthy. You will be looking for a small Decon container. It is large enough to hide small swag, coins, or travel bugs. When you are done, secure the lid tightly, and hide the container exactly as you found it to challenge the next cachers.

Have you ever worked on a road crew? If you have, you know how drivers can be. If you have not, when you attempt this cache you will get a good idea why drivers are told to slow down through work zones. Just try to imagine what it would be like to be working on the road about 25 feet from where the cache is located. It really brings into perspective what those workers have to worry about and go through each day. After this cache, maybe you will obey the signs and slow down for work zones.

There is parking on the north side in the park at N 41 29.682 W 073 03.089 or on the south side near Maple St, you can park on the stone covered island under the bridge, at N 41 29.401 W 073 03.135. The cache is about half way between these two parking locations, so one side does not have an advantage over the other, but it may be easier to park on the north side.
