A geocache dedicated to Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell. Russell won 11 championships in his career which is most ever for anyone in the NBA, MLB, NFL, or NHL. Russell was a 5 time league MVP, a 12 time All-star, an Olympic gold medalist, and was voted one of the 50 greatest players of all time.
Cache is located on the "Head of the Tide Preserve", on the Doak Road in Belfast, Maine. Parking is at the Stover Preserve lot across from Doak Machine Shop, and the start of the trail is located at N 44* 26.755, W 069*02.864. There are currently three geocaches on the Stover Preserve where you parked, and I encourage you to check these out as well.
Head of the Tide Preserve is a new preserve and a sign states that more work will be done on it in 2011, but we could not wait until then to place three Boston Celtic caches.
Cache is a plastic container painted Celtics green and hidden less than 100 feet off the trail.
