Hangin With Hiker Ron
This cache is in honor of Hiker Ron!
Hiker Ron helped us get our feet wet in Geocaching. Sure
there are tons of others who have helped us like: JackieInLR
who first brought the subject of Geocaching up to me at work.
Then there is WoodWalker and MathSeeker who have answered tons of
questions and have given us great ideas for ways to hide
caches. We can't forget the Airbase crew (LostBoys2007, Cabot
Fish, Crazy Cowboy, KTJx2, and Bates Gang) and the list keeps on
growing. I need to bring up IRBC in this list too for she has
helped in a bunch of ways, answering my phone calls at all hours is
just one of many! Then there is AR Hick, hum, he has shown me
the 'evil' way to hide a few caches!
The first two caches we found were Hiker Ron caches. The
very first cache I attempted was 'In Plain Sight'. It was
close to the house and it must have been a well liked cache because
it had a 5 star rating to boot! Okay, we didn't find it at
first so we moved over to the 'Zeeman Effect'. We found it in
seconds so back we went to 'In Plain Sight'. It took us close
to 30 minutes to find, but we found it, two in one day. The
next day it was off to find one more, then we were hooked on this
new sport!
Our very first FTF was 'Frisbee Golf Challenge', again it was a
Hiker Ron cache. Our first puzzle cache was a Hiker Ron cache
too, and he was more than happy to help me figure out the language
cachers use, the terminology the GPSr uses and just what the heck I
was doing in general.
So, this cache is placed where we found our first two caches,
and received our first FTF. No matter where your GPSr takes
you, stay on the city side of the tree line.
I have conversed with Hiker Ron many times via email and it
wasn't until the ArkGeo meeting at Petit Jean just over a year from
when we started caching that I finally met him in person.
Thanks Hiker Ron for all you do in the Caching Community!
Seek me and you will find me when you search for
me with all your heart!
