Here is another cache for all you who head out to hike up Mount Borah, the tallest peak in Idaho, which tops out at 12,662 feet.
This cache is sitting at about 10,700 feet, which puts you at just about 2,000 vertical feet from the summit. You will not need to pass The Ridge to get to this cache but a strenuous hike is still required.
You will be looking for a black 16oz container with a screw on lid, about 40 feet NNE of a large cairn.
Camping is available at the trailhead as well as two vault toilets (long-drops). There is no water there so be sure to bring some along. No fee is required to camp or park (as of 8/18/2011).
Maintenance plan: The container and logbook are watertight to last the winters and I am happy to make the dayhike during periods of accessibility to maintain the cache and address any issues such as multiple DNF's. Of course, cache owners always enjoy reading a good log to keep us up to date.
