Henry Avery or (Every) born in the mid 1600’s also known as : Long Ben and Capt. Bridgeman was only in the pirate business a very short time. He started out as a worker on the privateer Charles in the Royal Navy. They had there orders to attack Spanish colonies but had to wait ….. and wait …..months at sea , and finally no pay. Avery had enough , took over the ship and set out to make his own fortune. He succeeded in the Arabian Sea where he and his crew became wealthy. Eventually he just up and disappeared, some saying he changed his name and slipped into retirement.
