Come out and join the GGA for a
unique adventure at Panola Mountain State Park. The meeting will
begin at 1:00 at the Nature Center. Please remember there is a $5
parking fee. At 1:30, Janet of FatKidsOTWUnite will begin a
presentation for new members of the GGA. Janet’s presentation
will cover Geocaching 101, including an introduction to the GGA
WebSite and Forums. At that time, we will also have available a
group climb into the canopy of Naomi Ruth. Don’t worry though
– you can do both! There will be plenty of time to climb the
tree after Janet’s presentation. There is also a State Park
Geo-Challenge cache in this park! More details to follow as this
meeting develops – so visit back often.
There will be some very special
t-shirts available at this event. The t-shirts will feature a NEW
GGA logo on the front and the Georgia State Parks GeoChallenge on
the back. There is a limited supply of 100 t-shirts available. The
cost is: $12 each or 2 for $20. Don't miss this exclusive
opportunity to purchase this new t-shirt.
This is a 'technical' tree climb,
which means you will wear a harness and helmet and use ropes to
reach the canopy. Pay special attention to the following
instructions if you wish to climb Naomi Ruth and sign your name to
the log of this unique geocache. There is an $18 per person fee to
climb the tree and you must pre-register. A maximum of 60 climbers
can be accommodated, so please do not delay your registration if
you wish to make the climb. This is a special group rate. You may
climb the tree if you are at least 8 years old.
- Send an e-mail to gageoadm@yahoo.com stating that you wish to
climb the tree. You must be at least 8 years old to attempt the
climb.
- Access the GGA PayPal account on the GGA homepage to make your payment
and secure your spot. Your payment and reservation MUST be made by
July 31st - NO exceptions.
- You will be assigned a climb time and sent a confirmation
e-mail that your registration is complete. The e-mail will include
a waiver that must be completed for each climber before they will
be permitted to climb the tree.
- Send any questions you may have to the e-mail address in item
1. This is the only e-mail address that will be monitored for the
purposes of registering for the climb.
