Crowland is a small town in South Lincolnshire positioned between Peterborough and Spalding with two sites of particular historical interest. They are the unique fourteenth Century three-sided Trinity Bridge which, standing in the town centre, used to be the confluence of three streams; the other is its ruined mediaeval Abbey that was dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, St Bartholomew and St Guthlac in the eighth century.
The coordinates above offer a suitable parking area that will enable you to enjoy a short walk around the town collecting answers to the following clues. From these answers you will deduce the final coordinates:
1. Alphabetic position of the fourth letter of the town name on the Abbey car park wall sign. Add together the digits to form a single figure.
2. On the right hand pillar at the Abbey Gate. Total of knives and forks?
3. How many stand above the first arch of the Abbey? Add the digits of the answer until you have a single figure.
4. How many red petals on the tulip that adorns the wall of the library?
5. Flower shop on South Street has how many words in its name?
6. Return to North Street and to a refreshments stop. When did the boy in blue meet his bird? Add the digits of the answer until you have a single figure.
7. How many teacups did Thatcher craft?
A = Ans 1
B = Ans 2 divided by 2
C = Ans 3
D = Ans 4 squared
E = Ans 5 plus Ans 7
F = Ans 6 + Ans 7
The cache coordinates are:
N 52 40.ABC
W 000 10.DEF
The cache is about 1 mile from the original parking location.
Please take a writer with you.
