Another small hide on the south side.
Located a few klicks west of the 76th Meridian, this cache takes you ever closer to lunch and the conclusion of the trail in CP.
If you have had the pleasure of doing the father trail 'p'tit train du nord', you will probably know the location of this hide as you park the bike and head to GZ...as there were many hides like this up north, although I can't remember if any had really cool binary digit minutes.
Like many of the other caches in this western section, you can bike or determine alternative means of getting to gz.
Already a cachers destination, the Ottawa Carleton Trail which officially runs from West Ottawa to Carleton Place. It's a beautiful ride that will allow you to grab a few caches along the way.
The ride is pleasant enough, but like many trails that have been converted from old railway lines, it is very straight, and variations in the scenery are somewhat limited.
At about the half way point to Carleton Place, you will cross the Dwyer Hill Road. From here on, there are more open spaces and the trail eventually passes by a couple of farms. The trail goes under an overpass that is used by Highway 7. Hey, this is where we are! This is the only area where the trail comes close to running along a busy road. At the Cavanagh Construction facility, the trail merges with a local road for a few hundred metres.
The Ottawa-Carleton Trail-way comes to an end in a small industrial park in the outskirts of Carleton Place, and it leads cyclists onto Coleman Street. To get downtown, you will have to cross a busy four lane road (McNeely Ave) and continue on Coleman for almost a kilometer until you pass the old railroad station (which now houses a community services centre). At the next major intersection, turn right onto Franktown Road. It is a fairly busy road, but you only stay on it for about half a kilometre to get downtown. During this short distance, the name of Franktown Road changes from Moore Street to Bridge Street.
