Geocache Description:

A Shakespeare Cliff Reserve Cache

Magnificent views can be had from here of Mercury Bay and the surrounding region. On the day the cache was placed there was no clouds and the views were breathtaking.

Cooks Beach is to the East and Whitianga/Buffalo Beach is to the West. On the Northern side of the bay is Wharekheo Beach.

At Ground Zero you will find something that points due north. It's fairly obvious but I won't give it away here.

You will find a 600ml container, with enough room for a Travel Bugs and Geo-coins. This cache should not trouble you and while offering magnificent vistas, the cache should not be difficult to find and replace.

There is a plaque nearby, you should see it on the eastern side of the reserve. It's worth a look and commemorates the Royal Family's visit to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Transit of Mercury which was observed by James Cook and the Endeavour in November 1769.

This cache is an easy walking distance (50 mins return) from the Whitanga Ferry and there is another one of my caches up here to reward the effort. However you can drive up here from the Cooks Beach Rd, for those on the Cooks Beach side of the Whitianga River.

Good Luck.
