A.R.K. stands for "Acts of Random Kindness."
The cache commemorates the kindness of three area cachers, as well as human decency in general--Kdnydnr, Noah's Peeps, and Team Kalsin.
Kdnydnr reported a problem with one of my caches, a dead dog near by. He called Noah's Peeps who called me. I disabled the cache. Meanwhile, Team Kalsin became aware of the situation, went to the site and gave the poor dog a proper burial. He removed its tags and attempted to find the owner. This is typical of this group of cachers....they take care of problems and do so quickly and with kindness. Small acts, but small acts of decency and kindness are what's badly needed in our world.
I know of others who have helped lost hikers find their way, who have led troubled youth on hiking/caching ventures (hello, Doeds!)--we have a great community of cachers in Northern Michigan!
There are more trails behind the ball fields than I knew about; I found them while running my geo-dog Jack. They appear to be popular with runners, bikers and ATV'ers. Lovely woods---and at the time of cache placement, abundant with ripe red raspberries.
This cache is located in a wooded area behind the Gaylord baseball fields. It is an ammo can.
I left a neon sign, fully lit, for both Kdnydnr and the Dino Duo!
