Geocache Description:


Located near the to centre of Thatcham, believed to be one of the oldest continuously inhabitited village/towns in the UK. There remains dating back some 10,000 years ago (8000 BC) and it has been settled by the Romans (Roman Road passes through the Broadway) and there is evidence of a Saxon settlement and the nearby church is thought to have been built on the site of a former Saxon Church.St Mary's has a Norman doorway.Thatcham is mentioned in the Domesday Book.
There is a nearby Scout Hut for 1st Thatcham(St Marys) scout group-established in 1935.Also used by Cubs,Brownies and guides on various days of the week.

The cache is located on a well used Public Bridleway leading from Chuch Gate to the Moors Road -so hunt carefully and watch out for Mugglers and Dog walkers.
