Geocache Description:

Sigh. Guess I’ll be moving on. Must be the economy. What’s a working girl to do if there’s no work? Why, get on her white horse and move on down the road. I’ll go west and see if there’s work when the road runs out or the horse dies. She is an old horse, like me. Been around, like me. Still got some spirit in her, like me. We’re leaving this town of bright lights and false promises. Gonna make some stops along the way to rest up and see the sights. Maybe pick up a few dollars here and there. Maybe not, but I hear there are opportunities at the end of the road for an old gal like me.

U.S. Route 30 (US 30, also know as the White Horse Pike) is an east–west main route of the system of United States Numbered Highways, with the highway traveling across the northern tier of the country. The western end of the highway is at Astoria, Oregon; the eastern end is in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Despite long stretches of parallel and concurrent Interstate Highways, it has managed to avoid the decommissioning that has happened to other long haul routes such as U.S. Route 66.

My dream is that these caches can reach across the United States along U.S. 30. I hope to make a road trip to drop a few caches in each state that U.S. 30 crosses. I encourage you to add your own to the series, if you’d like. Please use the name “Westward Ho” + the name of the highway in your area.
