Geocache Description:

An easy drive by cache near the Sands of Evie. Great views across Eynhallow Sound with the island of Eynhallow visible across the Sound.

This can be a very busy location so stealth will be required!

A lovely location and a fabulous beach to wander along.

Nearby is the Broch of Gurness, which is well worth a visit. It is an Iron Age broch village overlooking Eynhallow Sound. The remains of the central tower are up to 3.6 metres (11.8 ft) high, and the stone walls are up to 4.1 metres (13.5 ft) thick. The broch probably had a conical or mildly hyperbolic top and has the remains of a settlement surrounding and adjoining it.

Pieces of a Roman amphora dating pre-60 AD were found here, lending weight to the record that a "King of Orkney" submitted to Emperor Claudius at Colchester in 43 AD.

The cache is a 35mm film canister with log and pencil.
