Geocache Description:

Come see the ruins of the American Mining Company of 1864. The road you are on is still called the American gap road.
See this link of a stock certificate of the company:
http://www.pasty.com/reflections/id199.htm

This is the ruins of the old boiler house and stack that was part of the American Mining Company from 1864. Located west of the Cliff mine, this was a small mine, later absorbed into the Cliff's operations.
There are no shafts in this area, only small rock piles, and plenty of trees and brush. The road is currently an active logging path, so PLEASE be aware of trucks. NO logging is taking place at this location, only further up the trail. Park on Cliff Drive and walk up.
