Geocache Description:

Another in the series along the Silver Creek trail in Georgetown Colorado

This is one in a series of caches off the relatively unknown Silver Creek Trail in Georgetown Colorado This is a relatively flat trail that runs for approximately 5 miles from Georgetown to Lawson. The only detraction is the noise from I-70 below. It traverses wooded and open terrain and has some colorful aspen glades in the fall. It is an easy trail but if you bring small children exercise extreme caution since there are precipitous drop-offs in places. The trail follows an old mining shelf road that is now a single track. There are some mine ruins along the way. I have placed the caches very close to the trail since there are a lot of old unknown shafts that can be hazards. It is also a challenging mountain bike trail so watch out for bikers. I have given coordinates for the trailhead. There is limited parking just uphill of the trailhead that is accessible by two wheel drive cars up to this point. The trailhead is located just past a house at the end of what looks like a driveway but is actually a public right of way. You can also access the trail in the vicinity of the Georgetown cemetery. Note that these caches are not accessible from the other Saxon Mountain Road caches.
