Somewhat steep approach. Stick to the main "road". This is the site of an old Nike radar site. The concrete base still exists. Once you see it, you're close!
Somewhat steep approach. Park on the north side. Locate and stick to the main "road". A former Army Nike radar site known as CM-55R, this is one of ten radar sites in the Chicago-Milwaukee Radar Defense Ring. The dirt road to the top of the wooded hill is still useable, and the concrete support for the radar remains in place. This radar site was active in the Nike system for some period of time between 1955 and 1974. Enjoy the view! The concrete base still exists. Once you see it, you're close! Look for a green ammo can.
