Geocache Description:

The graves of soldiers killed when the Boer forces attacked the Armoured train near Frere.

At this site you will find the graves in which the remains of British soldiers were buried after the Boers had ambushed and derailed an armoured train. Winston Churchill was at the time a war corespondent\dant and was captured nearby. He was taken as a POW to Pretoria where he later escaped. How history would have changed if he was to have joined these soldiers buried in these graves.

The cache can be accessed by following a path from the parking and followed down to a tunnel under the railway tracks. A direct route from the parking is also possible but please be very careful as trains come past here still. I counted no less than three going past in the time it took me to place the cache. Make sure no trains are coming should you take this route.
