Upon challenging the possible boat (which at that time he presumed to be friendly) he was greeted by a hail of Machine Gun bullets.
He responded immediatly by contacting by Radio Telephone the Forward Defensive Position to respond to the enemy fire, only to get no response!
Pvt. Jimbo sprinted to the FDP to discover to his horror the FDP crew had been taken out by the enemy fire. Pvt. Jimbo then came under heavy fire as well.
Taking cover behind the FDP he was just able to observe where the enemy craft was positioned by making use of the "gunsight ports", reaching for his RT Pvt. Jimbo was able to call upon his Main Defensive Battery situated higher up on North Head to bring their weapons to bear on the enemy using the position he was able to give them. The enemy craft was soon dispatched.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to recreate the steps in which Pvt. Jimbo carried out his mission and to discover the Memorial cache which was planted there years later by his descendants who still live locally.
The cache co-ords given are carpark only and the hrs of access are limited according to the time of year.
Please take note (NB) at the bottom of the cache page as well.
MISSION---Find the three military places in the Pics, use your navigating skills to find where the offsets given intersect. That will give you the position for the concrete Forward Defensive Position (FDP) (NOT GZ)
Peer through the "gunsights" that Pvt. Jimbo looked through, in reverse this time though -;)from East to Westward, see the marker?, follow that down to the cache.
Cache is a small Peanut Butter jar in miltary colors, contains miltary items of trade and notebook, pencil, no exposives were left however, and nothing got blown up in the making of this adventure! , much to Pvt. Jimbo's descendants dissapointment -;)
