Like, August, Friday the 13th from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
WHAT / WHY?
To celebrate Friday the 13th (which, coincidentally, is Monhina's
favorite/lucky day). Come hungry and enjoy the delicious food
Mijo's has to offer. It's kid-tested, Shaggy-approved!
Prices are reasonable, and, like, they have awesome red and green
salsa. [side note: Monhina recommends the Chicken Tacos La Jolla -
to die for!).
This will be a pretty laid-back event. No itinerary. Come join
those meddling kids of Mystery, Inc. and other triskaidekaphiles
for a evening of fun, food, and fellowship. And, possibly, some
awesome prizes (AKA "Scooby Snacks")! ;)
OH! And feel free to wear anything (and everything) that has to do
with the skulls and/or the number 13 (Voorhees-wear included - but
leave the machetes home, please).
What's the big deal with the Friday the
13th?
As Monhina explains in the following long-winded blurb:
"Friday the 13th is my absolute FAVORITE horror series. Yes, even
the cheesy hilarious installments like Jason X, Freddy vs. Jason,
and Jason Takes Manhattan. Terribly awesome! My best friend,
Amanda, and I use to have "Jason marathons" where we would rent a
bunch of them on VHS and watch them all in a row. Now, I'm lucky
enough to own the complete Friday the 13th set, and watching them
never gets old.
It's ironic that Friday the 13th became my favorite horror series,
because 13 is "my" number. Not just my favorite/lucky number, but
MY number.
Why, you ask?
A LOT of things in my life revolve around 13. My address at my
first apartment in Ohio was 66 N. Monroe, Apt. 1. 6+6+1=13.
My second apartment in Ohio was 175 Jefferson. 1+7+5=13.
My first apartment in Texas was 616 Monte Vista Lane.
6+1+6=13.
My second apartment (same complex as above) in Texas was apartment
number 1426. 1+4+2+6=13. And there were 13 stairs to the
apartment.
And now, my current apartment address is 1201 Vincent, Apt. 112.
12+01=13 AND 11+2=13 OR 1+12=13.
When I registered for GW8, my registration number was
1345...1+3+4+5 = 13! See what I mean???
There are a few other things in my life that revolve around the
number 13, but too personal to post here. Let's just say it's very
eerie.
Now, if you've seen the movie "Number 23" with Jim Carrey, you'll
know that anyone can make ANY NUMBER equal ANYTHING, if you want it
to. Yeah, I'm aware of that. And I'm certainly not the type of
person that is overly obsessed with a number.
I just think it's really weird that 13 pops up without having to do
a lot of noodling with the numbers."
