A cache for scouts, scouters, and the public.
Goose Pond Scout Reservation recently acquired this particular piece of property through a land swap deal. So we did what any normal people would do......hide a geocache on it!
The cache itself is a small Rubbermaid container. There is nothing in it at this point but later in the summer we hope to swap it out with a larger container. For the time being, bring your own pen.
If you are from the public, parking is available at the main gate or in the grassy field (if it isn't roped off).
To access the cache, you must walk down Goose Pond Road. You will pass a large boulder on your left next to a telephone pole being propped up by a smaller telephone pole.
After you pass this landmark you will be looking for the trail head. The trail head will be on your right about 100 feet past the telephone poles and boulder. Look for a tree with three yellow notches carved into it and the trail will be right next to it.
The trail is fairly wide and will lead you right to the cache.
FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC:
DO NOT enter the main part of camp, i.e. go into the woods north of Goose Pond Road, unless granted permission from the Goose Pond camp office (just down from the main entrance) or from the NEPA BSA Council. This is for the safety and protection for the Scouts and Scouters who attend camp here year round. If non-scouters enter the camp this cache will have to be archived.
Good Luck!
