"Did you know Waco?" is a cache series that highlights some of the people and places from Waco that have made it famous. These will focus not on Waco history alone, but its contributions to the rest of the world. Come along and find out what to say when someone asks you, "What's so special about Waco?"

Floyd Casey Stadium is the Home of the Baylor Bears but perhaps its most famous son is Mike Singletary. During his tenure with Baylor, Singletary was named All-Southwest Conference three times and an All-American twice while leading the bears to a Southwest Conference Championship in 1980.

In the NFL Singletary gained a reputation for ferocity and earned the nickname Samurai Mike and Iron Mike. He was selected to 10 Pro Bowls, was All-Pro eight times, and All-NFC every year from 1983 to 1991. He was also named Defensive Player of the Year in 1985, the year he led the Chicago Bears to a Superbowl win.

Floyd Casey has seen its share of other famous bears, with over 40 enjoying NFL careers. In your log, include your favorite NFL star!
