Geocache Description:

Welcome to Briggs Cemetery, located in section 19 of Handy Township, Livingston County.

Although I could not find the date that this cemetery was founded, the earliest known interment was that of Mariah Knickerbocker in 1840, less then five years after settlement in the township.
It got it's name due to being placed on the property of Benjamin H Briggs, another early settler, who is also buried here. The land was then passed to his son, Joel Briggs, who also farmed the surrounding land.
Briggs Cemetery is now maintained by Handy Township and is no longer active. Although almost all of the headstones have been broken and have fallen, the grounds are still mowed and taken good care of.
Parking can be had along side of the road, Cedar would be more preferable then Judd since it's wider, but you probably won't see much traffic either way.
You're looking for a camo'd Lock n Lock hidden outside of the cemetery proper.
The "SQ" in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries and memorial gardens.
