CCWMHB stands for Chatham County - What Might Have Been. This is a series of six altoid-tin hides with log and altoid-tin sized swag that highlight just how often this one particular county in North Carolina managed to consistently and repeatedly manage to snatch Obscurity from the jaws of Fame and History.
HEADLINE FRON AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE:
TARHEELS CLINCH NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS - BRINGING THE TROPHY BACK HOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT PITTSBORO
THE REALITY:
According to The State Magazine (Vol 8:45, April 5, 1941) in 1789 "Cyprett's Bridge at the junction of New Hope Creek and Haw River (now the site of Lake Jordan Dam) was initially selected as the center of the circle within which the new University of North Carolina should be placed. A group of judges was selected and they were asked to vote on the places submitted for the University. The City of Chapel Hill made a larger offer of land and was selected as a better location. Another reason for the selection was that the city of Pittsboro had far too many salloons and would present a 'demoralizing atmosphere' for the students."
