Geocache Description:

‘Edward Goes Exploring’ is an early years children’s book.
Edward knows that his garden is really a jungle with all sorts of new animals, never been seen before. With his rucksack packed, off he goes to see what he can find and give it a name!
Now, there’s a little of this spirit in us geocachers isn’t there?

So, this is a series of caches which follow Edward’s journey down a short, quiet county lane, an excellent bridleway and a clearly marked footpath.
The ground surface is compact earth with shingle in parts. I have tried to design a route suitable for children and those with pushchairs. I think it is, except for one cache on the footpath, mentioned in its description. This may be a bit overgrown depending on the time of year.
The bridleway is wide and fairly even but can have muddy patches depending on the weather.
Apart from the one cache mentioned above, wheelchair users should find the route accessible when it is not too wet; though you will need a friend to grab the cache when you reach each spot.
The caches are in traffic free places, suitable for children, wheelchair users, dogs and all.
It doesn’t matter which order the caches are found.
Children who know the book will know the animal each cache represents and where Edward found it.
‘Edward Goes Exploring’ is set just outside the village of Longhirst, near Morpeth.

Each cache contains a log book and writing implement. You may need tweezers to get the logbook from 2 of the caches. Most caches contain a FTF badge and small trading items. There is a variety of exploring equipment which Edward has left for children to find.
The cache is a round plastic container with a snap on lid.
It contains logbook, writing implement, FTF badge and small items to swap.
