Where The Sidewalk Ends... Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

peardaughter: I am archiving this cache, because the original mystery of finding it has been eliminated by the restoration efforts in the area. I considered re-hiding it in the area, but for the next few years it will be a sensitive native plant restoration project. Wouldn't want our geocaching feet to smoosh any baby natives!

I am re-hiding the cache container elsewhere on the King Mountain Trail. Happy caching!

Geocache Description:

This cache is just inside the King Mountain Open Space Preserve. The most convenient trail head is located on Willow Ave, just a short walk from downtown Larkspur.

When I placed this cache originally in 2010, it was deep in the thickets of overgrown brush. Thus, the location was very hidden and mysterious. Since then, Marin County Parks has paid the surrounding area att, ention via habitat restoration by removing two invasive species: acacia trees and scotch broom.

Thus, the overwhelming thickets have since been removed. The cache is still placed at the stated coordinates, and now it is an opportunity witness restoration efforts in action.

Happy caching!
