Geocache Description:

This is the fifth is a series of seven caches with a Canada theme to them. All these caches are located in and around the Crownsest Pass and the contents of the cache have a Canadian flag or "Canada" written on them. The cache is a small camo'd lock 'n lock container and is located on a ridge line above the north end of the Frank Slide. From this location, you get a terrific overview of the slide and Turtle Mountain.

The cache is just off an old wagon trail used by the locals for a year or so after the slide occurred. It was the only way around the slide until a road and the rail line were pushed through the jumble of rock in the valley below. Once these routes were reestablished, this old wagon trail was abandoned.

Access to this wagon trail is gained from the main parking lot at the Frank Slide Interpretive centre. It is located just east and north, 30 meters or so from a graveled walk way. There are a couple of Y's in this route, just use a little common sense and think about what type of vehicle was using the path 107 years ago. You will pick the right trail! Bring your camera, the view is incredible! Enjoy.
