A Nano Cache with just a log book. You will require a pen or pencil
to initial the log.
The cache is situated at the side of Peak Railway, which runs adjacent to the A6 through Matlock, Darley Dale & Rowsley.
The railway is home to an extensive collection of working steam and diesel locomotives, historic carriages, wagons and other railway memorabilia, which is either owned by the railway, private individuals or one of their many groups.
Trains run throughout the year on a 4 mile section of line between Rowsley South and Matlock Riverside which was once part of the Midland Railway’s line between Manchester Central and London St. Pancras.
The walk along side of the railway is flat and offers some superb views down to the Derwent River, up to the moorlands and up to my other cache site ‘One Tree Hill’, with the added bonus of the steam loco passing every 30 mins. This walk is suitable for children and pets but care must be taken when using any of the rail crossings.
Geo-Parking is available at 53.14470 -1.57188 Just off of the A6 in Matlock across from Holt Drive (DE4 3BA). This parking area is relatively new hence not yet shown on google satellite view.
**I must note:- The cache is perfectly accessible from the farmer's track (access via the two gates at side of train track), no need to explore the grounds on the other side of farmer's track. Please close all gates behind you**
