BSA Team 480 placed this Geocache during Operation On Target on July 17, 2010. Three boys were accompanied by two leaders and a HAM radio operator to the top of Bismark Peak where we successfully contacted 12 other teams stationed on mountaintops visible from the top of the mountain. Our longest contact was Pfeifferhorn at roughly 40 miles away.We left two four-inch signaling mirrors (heliographs) and a compass. We used a two-foot by two-foot mirror to make our long distance contacts, and used GPS units with digital compasses to measure the heading.
I would recommend taking Allen's Ranch Road to Chulos Canyon Road. This will take you around the southern tip of the mountain to the west side of the mountain. There is no road to the top, nor will there ever be.
