Geocache Description:

This is the first in my series of Chicago alleyway caches. The cache is a small magnetic keyholder. BYOP

Chicago alleyways can be intimidating, cozy, eerie, and exciting all at once. They are a pleasant hint to the characters who dwell behind the garage doors, brick walls, aluminum siding, and chain link fences. They have have so many wonderful little nuances that create a pleasing, yet dissonant harmony. From the haphazardly placed speed bumps to the often poorly executed graffiti tags to the modest windows whose interior shed a warm glow out onto the pavement below. But, I must say that my absolute favorite aspect of a Chicago alley is the utility cable situation. Have you seen them?! They are AWESOME. The cables that hang from building walls that draw electricity and information from phone companies, cable companies, internet service providers, etc all culminate 75% of the way up a million-year-old wooden post. The result of this resembles a massive spiderweb birds nest of black and silver reminiscent of the art of H.R. Giger!

Alleyways are also a great place to find hidden treasures...
