Geocache Description:

The cache is a tribute to Edward Everett Hale who is quoted in his 1870 story "Ten Times One is Ten" as saying "Look up and not down, look forward and not back, look out and not in, and lend a hand."; not a bad mantra. The Lend-A-Hand Trail to the summit is so named.

Mt Hale doesn't have much to offer in terms of scenic views as the summit is below the treeline and even atop the summit cairn the surrounding peaks are getting harder to see. That being said, the Hale River, at the first crossing, tumbles over well worn bedrock and the bottom 3/4 mile of the trail revealed the largest bull moose I have ever seen. The summit also has some interesting magnetized rock around the cairn. Finally, there is a USGS bench(reference)mark on the summit that is not listed on GC.com as well. So, not as flashy as some other peaks, but interesting in its own way.
