Geocache Description:

This is a replacement to the original Cypress Hollow. This was a great cache and deserves to stay in place.

Park and grab. Easy wheelchair access and low muggle area (with periodic spikes in activity, of course). Note, however, that the cache is only available between 9am and 5pm every day of the week

The cache is a medium plastic jar container. It's just outside the park, so there is NO admission fee required. There is no need to climb the fence or otherwise enter the park to find the cache. Park in the main parking lot and take a short walk to find it. (Since there is no lockable gate to the park itself, the main gate at the road closes around 5pm and prevents access to both the parking lot and the cache.)

Cypress Gardens (visit link) is a beautiful park outside Goose Creek, SC and a longstanding scenic stop for visitors to Charleston. It's been the filming location for several motion pictures, including Swamp Thing, The Patriot (a few of the props can still be seen if you know where to look), and The Notebook (the full list of films is on the website).

After you find the cache, take time to go inside the park ($10 admission fee) and see all the elements of the lowcountry swamps. Take a boat (now free with the park admission or get a guided swamp tour for $5) and ride through the cypress and tupelo swamp. Walk through the butterfly house and see the local butterflies, birds, and flowers. Visit the indoor (air-conditioned!) aquarium with several lowcountry freshwater species of fish and amphibians and the reptile center with local and international snakes, alligators, and lizards. Stroll along some the 4.5 miles of paths along the water's edge and through the nature trails to see the wildlife in its natural setting.
