Geocache Description:

This is a small adventure. This cache will take you to what we call the wilderness of the Modiin area. On a totally not traveled location, yet 5 minutes from the city and industrial area.
No official trails make it kind of a mysterious spot where it is surprising to find remains of a Roman fortress - but that's exactly what it is.

Welcome to the ruins of a Roman fortress, located in the deserted village of Haruba, abandoned in the 1948 war.

You can reach with a regular car to a place which is 5 minute walk to the cache.

Coming from 443 road towards Modiin take the first light right, just before the city, to the industrial area towards Ligad center. Keep straight until the traffic circle and take the first exit to the right.

Drive straight until the road ends (T junction), and take the right turn. Drive a while on Hashdera Hamerkazit road and take the first left after about 500m to Tzela HaHar st. On the first roundabout take left and on the next roundabout park your car and continue by foot.

To get from road number 1: Reach Anava interchange , and then turn onto route 431 east, as if you're driving into Modiin. About 1km drive later (long before you reach Modiin) you will see an exit to the Train station "Paatei Modiin", take that exit. After you take the exit, don't go to the train, but continue north on the road for about 2km, passing a few traffic circles, until you reach Tzela HaHar st.

The cache is at the top of a hill to the west. You will need to walk from here.

Take the wide trail west and after few meters there, you will see another wide trail to the left. This is a less used trail and therefore covered with vegetation – yet it is clear enough. Follow this wide trail which takes you to the top of the hill. Close to the top, when you reach a very large, flat, white rocky surface take right to a narrow, kind of hiking trail. There are lots of thorns around in the summer but you can find your way on those narrow hiking trails until you reach the remains of the fortress. The trails might not be very clear but you can carefully make your way to the destination.

The fortress ruins are clear and impressing. The cache is hidden near the ruins. There is a nice view of Modiin, Ligad center and Ben Shemen forest around you.
