Geocache Description:

Final cache is not at the posted coordinates. The posted coordinates are the starting place for this 3 part mystery cache. To find this cache you must first learn a little bit about Estevan's violent and controversial history.

On September 29,1931, striking coal miners from Bienfait assembled in Estevan to bring attention to their cause. They wanted improved working conditions and better wages. Several hundred demonstrators paraded through the streets, and when RCMP tried to quell the procession, violence erupted. Police opened fire on the strikers, killing three of them. Many others were wounded and arrested in what is known today as the Black Tuesday Riot.

WPT 1: At the posted coordinates you will find an artifact. Read the memorial plaque on the artifact, and take note of the names of the 3 men who were killed on Black Tuesday.

WPT 2: To find the second waypoint, take the year the plaque was commemorated and subtract 1223. This number is the decimal portion of the North coordinates. To get the minutes and decimal portion of the West coordinates, count the number of letters in the men's names. Add 12 to that number to get the minutes. Add the number of letters in the men's names to 698 to get the decimal portion. Travel to this location.

WPT 3: Once at the location obtained from the commemorative plaque at WPT 1, find the headstone marking the burial site of the 3 men who are mentioned on the commemorative plaque. At this site is another commemorative plaque. The widow of one of the men dedicated this plaque; take the number of letters in her name and add that to 781 to obtain the decimal portion of the North coordinates of the final cache. To find the decimal portion of the West coordinates, subtract 1348 from the year the plaque was dedicated. You now have all the information needed to find the final cache.

The container you are looking for is a World War 2 fuse case. It contains a log book and pencil; there is room for small items or coins. Please rehide well so groundskeepers do not find it. Stealth may be required, and as always, please be respectful of your surroundings.
