Geocache Description:

Ringholmen Sjøhus is a restaurant and hotel on a small island outside Tustna. Ringholmen was re-opened in 2010 and transports visitors from Tustna (Vestnes pier) to Ringholmen by appointment. This island is only accessible by boat. Ringholmen was originally a fish and dry fish production facility. This part of Norway is well known for its baccalao and other dry fish courses.

Fishermen in this part of Norway used to deliver their catch to Ringholmen. Here, the fish was mostly dried and then shipped south to Southern Europe, Britain or other parts of Norway.

South European fishermen often fished along the Norwegian coast in the 19th and early 20th century and brought with them local customs and dishes, amongst them baccalao. Kristiansund and Tustna is well known for making good baccalao, and Ringholmen restaurant is no exception.

The cache is placed "under" a somewhat dis-used pathway, but the rest of the island is also well worth a look. You can get here by making an appointment with Ringholmen restaurant (ringholmen.no) and have them pick you up (usually if you intend to dine og stay there), by own boat or by local expressboat from Kristiansund (make sure to tell them that you want to get off at Ringholmen).

The terrain is a "1", but it takes some effort to get there - of course. Either by scheduled boat, on-demand boat service or own boat.
