Geocache Description:

Cache is located at edge of the cemetery. Please be respectful. This is a daytime only cache, as the cemetery is closed at night. You are looking for a lock-n-lock with dark olive duct tape to better conceal it.

The earliest known burials at St. John's are from 1903 for Karl and Barbara Ciliax. Both were born in Germany, though it is only known that Barbara was born in 1828. The next is Gustav Yek, born in 1873 and passed in 1908. He had two children, Emil and Bertha. The had a small farm along M-61, near the St. John's Lutheran Church. Here is a photo him Gustav and his family in front of their cabin from 1905.
His wife, Wilhelmina, who later remarried is also buried at St. John's, though along side her current husband when she passed. Many graves in this small cemetery are left unmarked or still have their temporary tombstones from their initial burial. Please be respectful to those buried here.

Also, feel free to say hello to Gustav while visiting.
