Geocache Description:

A year-round geocache hidden in Bigfoot's feeding ground.

This geocache commemorates an American original stash hunt: The Canadian Club Hide-A-Case. Twenty-five years ago, on November 5, 1976, the Hiram Walker marketing guys hid a 48-pound case of Canadian Club in the forest surrounding Mt. St. Helens. Although we were not able to determine the exact location of the original whiskey case (indeed, it may have been in the 1980 blast zone), we did choose a spot for the first waypoint that more or less meets the description.

From the original ad: The buried C.C. is located almost the same number of miles south of Canada's Good Hope Mountain (elev. 10,617) as it is north of Bluff Creek in northwestern California. You'll know you're on the right track when you stumble on a temporarily dormant volcano. Now proceed somewhere between 6 and 9 miles (as the eagle flies) from this mountain's frigid peak to an eerie pile of broken green rocks.

Standing high on this unnatural rock pile, walk 65 paces due east to a stream. [The stream is at the coordinates above.] Turn and walk 70 paces due south. Then freeze in your tracks Because exactly 11 inches below the soft, virgin forest floor 12 bottles of C.C. are resting peacefully.

Okay, the case of C.C. is long gone. But if you proceed the 70 paces (roughly 5-6 feet per pace--like Bigfoot) you'll find yourself at N 46° 08.040' W 122° 09.846'. At this waypoint, you are looking for was a small silver tag which has the coordinates for the actual geocache. (Clicking the link will show you the tag with the coordinates. A temporary measure until the tag is replaced.) The photo at right is of the original container but it is now more traditional cache container. The original contents include a variety of Canadian Club memorabilia (no booze!), Bigfoot stuff, a unique Geocaching.com cube, and Geocoin #23. Plus, there are special postcards for the geocache.
