If you're looking for a cache that is out of the ordinary, this is the cache for you!
This cache was designed to be somewhat spooky. The closer you get to the cache, the more dense the forest.
This is a night cache only. It will be impossible to find during daylight hours. Because of this, you will need to dress appropriately and take adequate lighting (brighter lights work better).
The coordinates posted online are not for the cache, but rather the starting point of the reflector trail. From this location you will need to use your flashlight or headlamp to find and follow the reflectors to the cache (if you dare).The reflectors are on designated trails, so no "bushwacking is required".
IMPORTANT: The reflectors used for this cache are designed to reflect light from a great distance directly to the light source. It is very important that you shine your light from eye level, so the reflectors will be visible. If you use your flashlight at hip level, you will not see them.
Park your vehicle at the Dutch Hollow parking lot. The easiest trail to start on is at the extreme north end of the parking lot, near the entrance. From here, follow the given GPS coordinates to the start of the reflector trail. On arrival, you will need to search 360 degrees with your light held at eye level to locate the 1st reflector. From that point, follow the reflectors to the cache which will be identified by 3 reflectors in a vertical position.
NOTE: When following reflectors at night, it is a good practice to stop briefly at each trail intersection and look 360 degrees to make sure you pick the right trail.
Since this cache is a little more challenging, I would encourage you to try and leave “better than normal” items in the cache if possible, so as to be an incentive to others. Please take time to return the cache to its original location so it will not be accidentally found during daylight hours.
Plan on about 90 minutes.
