Geocache Description:

Inning #6 is just one in a series of caches to be released this summer each Saturday along the highway 78 corridor. As with other caches in the series the FTF is awarded a home run (4 bases), the 2nd to find a triple (3 bases), the 3rd to find a double (2 bases) and the 4th to find a single (1 base). Bases will accumulate over the summer and whoever has the most will be crowned the World Series Champion of 2010. What do they win? My admiration.

Logs should be clear as to who is first, second, third, and fourth to find otherwise the Commissioner will have to simply award bases on his best judgment.

Heading to the sixth the current score is:

Celestinau....................................................12 bases

Condor Man..................................................8 bases

7Riddles.......................................................7 bases

Mcgarveyma & Calipers..................................6 bases

fsafranek & Tim 10966....................................4 bases

Rockhoundbmw.............................................2 bases

dl4jones.........................................................1 base

Inning #6 is in honor of the Los Angeles/California/Anaheim/Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Angels

The Los Angeles Angels were an expansion franchise in 1961 and played their home games at Los Angeles' Wrigley Field. The team then moved in 1962 to newly built Dodger Stadium and were tenants of the Los Angeles Dodgers through 1965. The team changed their name to the California Angels in September 1965 in preparation for their upcoming move to the newly constructed Anaheim Stadium in Anaheim at the start of the 1966 season. When The Walt Disney Company took control of the team in 1997, it extensively renovated Anaheim Stadium. The City of Anaheim contributed $30 million to the renovation with an agreement that the names of both the stadium and team contain the word "Anaheim”. In 2005, new owner Arte Moreno added "Los Angeles" to the team's name in order to better tap into the Los Angeles media market. In compliance with the terms of its lease with the city of Anaheim, the team was renamed the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The city of Anaheim sued and eventually the name change was upheld in court.

The team was founded, and owned for its first 36 years, by entertainer Gene Autry. During Autry's ownership, the team was often competitive, making the playoffs three times but never winning the pennant. The Angels were denied a World Series berth in particularly heartbreaking fashion in 1986.

The best-of-seven 1986 American League Championship Series started well for the Angels, as they won three of the first four against the Red Sox. They took a 5-2 lead into the ninth inning of Game Five, and had two outs when former Angel Don Baylor hit a two-run homer to make it 5-4, and then with another man aboard, Dave Henderson hit a two-run shot off of Angel relief ace Donnie Moore to give Boston 6-5 lead. Although the Angels managed to tie in their half of the ninth, they lost in extra innings and the next two games as well. Some years later, a still-despondent Moore committed suicide.

In 2002 the Angels bested the Yankees and the Twins in the American League playoffs, and then they beat the San Francisco Giants in seven games for their only World Championship to date.

World Series titles: 2002

NL Pennants: 2002
