Geocache Description:

Cache is in an area usuall not frequented by muggles, although they may see you from above as they walk on by. It is just a short walk down a slightly worn path to GZ, but from there is get a little harder. There are some loose rock in the area so watch your footing. One might consider this cache a little on the evil side...You must bring a pen or pencil to sign the log.

The cache is named after the lake, which you can't see from GZ, but usually can hear. The lake, surrounding golf course, and most of the land from this area all of the way down to Kmart on Easton Ave. was part of the New Brunswick Marconi Station, which was built in 1914. The station was taken over by the US Navy in 1917 to provide wireless communications overseas during WWI. It was from this site that President Woodrow Wilson's 14 Points speech was broadcast to Europe in 1918. The main antenna tower was located where the Kmart is presently. The Antenna itself was 5,000 feet long and was supported by eight 400 foot tall towers. For reference the WCTC/WMGQ tower on Veronica Ave. in Somerset is a 500 foot tall tower so these were pretty big, especially for the early 1900's. The bases for some of these towers were still visible in the woods when I was growing up in the area, but are on private property and I don't want anyone to get in trouble for tresspassing. After the war the property was turned over to RCA, hence the name of the lake (at least that's what it was called when I grew up here). The cache container was purchased at a store but has been camo'd up a bit. Although the cache size is small the area to store the log is more along the micro size so a pen or pencil will be needed. There is a scratch off lottery ticket for the FTF. Good luck!

Congratulations to MountainRacer on the FTF!!!
