Geocache Description:

Laugavegurinn, the most popular Icelandic hiking trail.

Laugavegurinn is one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Iceland. It will take you to colourful mountains, hot springs, glaciers, blue lakes, incredibly green hyaloclastic ridges contrasting with black sand deserts.

The whole track from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk is about 55 km long and is usually divided in four days. You can find the basic information on the hike at The Iceland Touring Association which maintains the trail and most of the huts and camping places in the area.

The trail is only passable during high summer season from late June to early September.

This cache is hidden on the trail between Hrafntinnusker and Álftavatn at a great view point.
If went from this direction it is your last change to look over those beautiful rhyolit mountains.
