If the MET
Downhill Ride is up your alley, here's another ride just in
case you will miss the date or want a slight change of scenery.
We'll be coasting along Wentworth Springs Road (WWSR) starting our
ride near A
Spot of Relief and riding the ridge between Pilot Creek and the
mighty Rubicon River to Stumpy Meadows Reservoir.
This ride will be quite a bit shorter than the aforementioned
MET ride (approx 11 miles or 17.8 km) and far fewer (easily
accessible) caches as well. For a more interactive map, try
here,
although these stats were taken while Plazmo and I patiently
"coasted" down the hill in his Trusty Steed (thanks, Plax). He only
had to step on the gas three times.
For those riding, helmets are highly encouraged and I'd say a
must. WWSR is not exactly "busy", but cars and motorcycles do go
fast so riders should stay as far to the right and single file as
much as possible. We will also have the awesome signs Cold Springer made posted so that motorists are
aware of the bicyclists.
Details subject to change, but plan on meeting at the starting
coords at 9:0010:00. We'll shuttle people up and I
hope to start riding at the top of the hill by
10:0011:00.
As with the MET ride, you are welcome to come along as a spectator,
photographer, waterboy (or gal) or whatever other role you wish to
participate as. We will welcome all.
It would be appreciated if you let us know your riding status ASAP
so we can accomodate shuttling to the best degree possible.
