GEO.JOE: I have not been able to figure out a way to hide a cache that I would like to find. I may be inspired sometime in the future but for now I need to let this one go.

Geocache Description:

Quick park and grab with parking just across the street.

How would you have gotten to this point if you had lived in Paducah in 1937? The monument near the cache marks the western edge of where the water came to in the great flood of 1937. 27,000 people were evacuated from the flooded areas of Paducah and many brought to this location by boat to escape the water.

I have heard stories of my grandfather rowing his boat through the streets of Paducah trying to rescue what he could. On his last trip he had a boat load of items and had even rescued some chickens from crates and had them lined up around the edge of the row boat, he was almost out to the western edge of the water near the Coca Cola plant when he got caught in a whirlpool losing his boat. Luckily some people near by were able to throw him a rope and pull him free.

The cache is not on the monument or in the flowers at the base of the monument.
