Geocache Description:

This cache is located an a small community cemetery near Opal, Arkansas. If you have never been to Opal you are among many. If you are not from Opal or have family in Opal you have never even heard of Opal.... You get the idea... {:o)

Opal and the area surrounding it were once a thriving farming community built around the Big Fork Creek. There were at least two churches and this cemetery. The nearby churches are now gone, but the cemetery is still active.

One oddity that we noted is that the oldest graves are scattered all over the grounds, not isolated in one area as other cemeteries we have visited. Take the time to notice the infant Walker grave near the center / back under the huge Southern Catalpa tree. I grew up with a huge Catalpa tree in our back yard that was my "climbing tree. I, also, used the "beans" or pods in my sandbox cooking. I had A LOT of fun with that ole' tree, my sandbox, and that swing set my dad got me. Hope you have as much finding this cache!

There a great deal of trees that have watched many a saddened face through the years. In full leaf, they were beautiful on the HOT August day we placed this cache. Don't imagine they would be any less magnificent on a cold winter day.

You are searching for a small black plastic bison tube hidden in a likestocanoe manner. We hope that it is hidden well enough to stay in place for a long time. This cache is wheelchair accessible with a motorized chair.

Thank you for hunting for our cache, we hope that you enjoy it and your visit to Mt. Gilead in Montgomery County. Our special thanks to those fellow cachers who do maintenance along their trek. You are appreciated! If this cache is in trouble, please note it in your log or send us an email, we will take care of it as soon as we can.

Your log is our reward for placing a cache, please be generous and we will keep hiding... {:o)
