This cache is located in McDowell Mountain Regional Park between Fountain Hills and Rio Verde. There is a $6 entry fee for vehicles unless you have an annual pass for Maricopa County Parks. You can pick up a trail map at the front gate, the visitor center, or you can view one online (www.maricopa.gov/parks/mcdowell/). You're looking for the "Hilltop Trail". There is plenty of parking right at the trailhead and bathrooms and a water fountain nearby. Enjoy the views from the top.
This is an existing trail and it is well marked. The hike is 1/2 mile round trip; uphill (about 80 vertical feet) on the way there and downhill on the return. Please stay on trails as this is protected area. The caches is located a few feet off the trail and it is a Snapware (like Tupperware) container measuring 6" x 4" x 2.5". Contents include a log book and about 10 or so items to trade. There is also a Jefferson $1 coin for first to find.
