Misadventures on Goose Island Mystery Cache

Knowing the cachers involved in this story will not help you solve the puzzle. The activities and events are fictitious - including the caching partners, DNFs, the problems, and even the FTF.

Sixteen Regina area geocachers attempted to retrieve a new cache on the same day. Since the cache is located on Goose Island, it took some creativity to get there.

Each group of two cachers had a driver who picked up a passenger for a day of caching. In order to cross the water, each group chose a different method of transport (one group used a pontoon boat). All of the groups (except for one, which got the FTF) had to DNF the cache for a different reason. In the clues below, the term "boat" can refer to any of the watercraft.

From the clues below, determine the order in which each group (Driver and Passenger) attempted the cache, the type of boat they used, and why they DNFed the cache (or got the FTF).

1. Navcomm did not cache with Navyguider, Nezgar did not cache with Vana, Mr and Mrs Trillium03 cached separately, and so did Mr and Mrs Kosdav.

2. Seven of the eight passengers (in no particular order) are Navyguider, Navcomm, someone who was in a dragonboat, someone in a rowboat, the one who rode with Vana, one who dropped his or her GPSr in the lake, and the one who discovered muggles having a picnic right at the cache site.

3. The eight drivers (in no particular order) are Saskacadie, Mr Trillium03, one who used a motorboat, one who used a paddleboat, the one who cached with Peppermint P, one who was attacked by angry geese, one who ran into muggles having a picnic, and the one who was in the 4^th group to attempt the cache.

4. The group who used the paddleboat, the group who used the dragonboat, the group whose boat started leaking, and the 8^th group to attempt the cache are 4 different groups of cachers. None of these groups include SylvanSlueth, j_s_e_a, or Mrs Trillium03.

5. Mrs Kosdav and her driver attempted the cache sometime ahead of Mr Trillium03, who attempted the cache sometime ahead of the group in the rubber raft, who tried it sometime before Mr Kosdav (who was a driver).

6. The group in the kayak attempted the cache sometime before the group who's driver suffered a sprained ankle launching their boat at the marina, who tried it sometime before Wixter and his passenger, who attempted it sometime before Mrs Trillium03 and her driver, who tried it sometime before the group who's boat kept going around in circles, who attempted the cache earlier than the group in the dragon boat.

7. Deadly800 and her passenger tried finding the cache sometime before the group in the canoe, who attempted the cache sometime before the group with the sprained ankle, who was sometime before the group who ran into the muggles having a picnic.

8. The group with bad coordinates loaded into their GPSr tried finding the cache sometime before SaskAcadie.

9. SylvanSlueth drove, but neither with Mrs Trillium03 nor j_s_e_a (who caught a ride with someone else). Deadly800 and Mrs Kosdav didn't cache together.

10. Olemaz gave a stranded cacher a lift.

11. Saskacadie and Roarmeister's (who was a passenger) schedules didn't allow them to cache together.

12. Navyguider was a passenger in neither Mr Kosdav's nor Wixter's vehicle.
