Geocache Description:

This cache is a camouflaged bison container with only a log. You will need to bring your own writing implement.

There is a little park located near the Beechmont Old School called Nell Scott Park. Thanks to cachers Agent1958 I have the following details about Nell Scott:

"There was a book published in 1992 "Taming a Plateau" many of the local families scripted paragraphs of their early history for inclusion. Pages 92/93 are about the Scott family who settled at Beechmont early in 1914 to begin dairy farming. Brothers Jack and Frank built the family home prior to their mother and sister moving there from Toowong.
Jack and Frank commenced farming as Scott Bros in Feb 1914.
Jack married Elsie Rankin in March 1922, and Ken married Nell Rankin in January 1936 (local family). Jack and Elsie had 2 children, Keith and Joan. Keith joined the Air Force in WWII and was killed in air operations(13.08.1944). (There is more about that on the cache page for Beechmont Anzacs). Ken and Nell had no children.
Ken drove a truck 'The Red Shadow' taking cream to Canungra for transport by rail to the Kingston Butter Factory.
Nell was Postmistress for many years until the PO closure in 1975. (This is the house to the left of the park). It was originally known as an unofficial Post Office taken over by Mr Rankin Snr and Mr McKenzie to provide the original postal service, and run by Elsie Rankin until her marriage (1922) then carried on by Nell Rankin (with Elsie's help). ( I have been told Miss Bella McKenzie used to ride a horse to Nerang to bring mail back to the mountain)
Nell would phone mountain people with information in times of trouble (deaths, fires etc). During WWII she was an official aeroplane spotter, for which she was presented "Record and in Appreciation of Patriotic Response to the Call of the Country by Service with the Volunteer Air Observer Corps". Nephew George, now 87, still holds that document. Nell also conducted a newspaper service, and the telephone exchange. (Our phone numbers had only 3 digits then). Nell died in 1984- 22 years after Ken."

The park is on the sharp angled corner where two roads divide.
There is a pull in area where you can park safely off the road on the lower side of the park.
Part of the park is grassed and part is covered in small trees and shrubs.
